Founded in 1981, Department of Chemistry is equipped with Chemistry First-level Discipline PhD Program together with 5 Secondary Discipline PhD Programs (Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry and Physics), 8 Secondary Discipline Master Programs (Applied Chemistry, Industrial Catalysis, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Advanced Materials Synthesis and Technology, Fine Chemical Synthesis and Molecular Engineering) and 3 disciplines for Bachelor’s Degree (Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Materials Chemistry). Among them, Applied Chemistry is awarded as the nationwide well-known discipline.



Faculty Members:
Over 50% of the Faculty members are professors/associate professors, including academician of Chinese Academy of Science and chair professors of the Cheungkong Scholars Program.
Research Fields:
Organic Synthesis, Organometallic Chemistry, Liquid Crystal Chemistry, Environmental Analysis, Natural Product Purification and Analysis, Bio-inorganic Complex, Supramolecular Chemistry, Interface and Colloid Chemistry, Molecular Thermodynamics and Transfer, etc.
Undergraduate Teaching:
Department of Chemistry has four teaching sections: Modern Basic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry, which undertake chemistry core courses (including experiments) for relative disciplines as well as basic and specialized courses (including experiments) for chemistry relative disciplines in the university. Students are offered with advanced equipments and laboratories in experimental course, and will also take their chances in curriculum study, scientific competition, sports and arts activities together with various scholarships.
